چکیده

Subcutaneous injection of exogenous insulin or insulin analogues needs to be performed one or more times daily for type 1 diabetics. The timing and dosage of insulin administration have been a critical research area since the invention of insulin analogues. Several mathematical models have been proposed and some are applied clinically in modeling various insulin therapies. However, these models are not systematic since the plasma insulin concentration has to be computed separately. Furthermore, no analytical study has been done in all existing models. In this paper, we propose two systematic and simplified models to model the subcutaneous injection of rapid-acting insulin analogues and long-acting insulin analogues, respectively. The profiles of plasma insulin concentrations obtained from these two models are in agreement with the experimental data. We also systematically analyze the dynamics of insulin analogue, and plasma insulin concentrations.

Type 1 Ig-E mediated allergy to human insulin, insulin analogues and beta-lactam antibiotics*

Insulin, a crucial therapeutic agent for diabetes mellitus, has been rarely associated with hypersensitivity events. We present a 69-year-old type-2 diabetic patient with urticariform lesions on the sites of subcutaneous injection of insulin. The patient denied any known allergies, except for an unspecific cutaneous reaction after intramuscular penicillin administration in childhood. Prick test...

New insulin analogues and perioperative care of patients with type 1 diabetes.

While insulin remains the mainstay of managing type 1 diabetes, much has changed over the last 15 years. These changes should help in managing patients with type 1 diabetes during the perioperative period. More flexible insulin therapy has three components: (1) basal, (2) prandial and (3) corrective. Many patients, particularly younger patients, are using genetically modified recombinant human ...

Modeling Impulsive Injections of Insulin Analogues: towards Artificial Pancreas

We propose two novel mathematical models with impulsive injection of insulin or its analogues for type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. One model incorporates with periodic impulsive injection of insulin. We analytically showed the existence and uniqueness of a positive globally asymptotically stable periodic solution for type 1 diabetes, which implies that the perturbation due to insulin inject...
